It is with extreme sadness and regret that we have to announce that the Bankes Arms Beer Festival 2018, due to be held on the weekend of August 9th-12th, has been CANCELLED WITH IMMEDIATE NOTICE.

This year’s festival would have been the 23rd annual event since 1995 and it had grown year-on-year both in the number of beers and ciders it was able to showcase (over 200 in 2017) but also in the number of people attending. Its popularity had extended to a broad national audience and, with live bands and food stalls throughout the weekend, it had become a popular ‘must do’ annual event for many people.

However, due to stricter licensing restrictions imposed on the festival this year, it has become untenable to hold this year’s event.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused, not least of all because the festival date is so close but the organisers only received the news of the restrictions on June 12th. The long term future of the beer festival is currently unknown and we will hope to have some clarity in the near future.

We would like to thank all the visitors, suppliers and colleagues who have supported over the years and hope you will still enjoy visiting The Bankes Arms, the country inn by the sea.
